Mindanao Bloggers Summit (update)
Last Saturday, as mentioned in my previous post, me and my wife attended the Mindanao Bloggers Summit @ the NCCC mall. Although we were late we managed to sneak in (I have my invites with me anyway) and listened to the presentations. I noticed some familiar faces:
Dominique Cimafranca,
Job Oberio, Joseph Canedo,
Ragingmon,
Councilor Pete Lavina and of course
Bloggie. It was a very nice event come to think of it… it’s the 1st Bloggers Summit in Mindanao. Beside us is a guy from Misamis (I think he is from the local government) who is also live blogging
and taking lots of pictures. Dom’s T-shirts are on display but I wasn’t able to buy one.
All in all, it was a very good experience seeing bloggers around with some insights from Pro Bloggers like Mark Macalua, Jayvee Hernandez, Yuga and Bob. In fact, I managed to throw a question during the open forum (as expected… not just to be noticed… hehehe). Well, my question pertains to content validity and plagiarism. But why? A couple of months ago I attend the Asia Policy Forum on ICT Integration into Education and one of the most pressing issues is about content validity specially so that social networking online application is readily available nowadays. I remembered one speaker talked about pulling out learning resources from the likes of blogs, wikis, bookmarks, etc. in support for teaching and learning. But what about the validity of the content? It is an issue when it comes to using social networking in education. Although, it might be true that rich learning resources can easily be pulled together to be a source of information for teaching and learning it might also be true that the content of such might be incorrect, inappropriate or just simply invalid . Well, this is a case-to-case basis for it depends on the one who pulled it all together. Anyway, after all blogging is still a good teaching and learning resource.

It’s really nice to be part of the 1st Mindanao Bloggers Summit. Hope this event will continue in the following years.
