Ubuntu in KFC
Me and my wife grabbed a bite @ KFC last night. Before going to KFC we were arguing as to where will we eat. Most of the time she got the call, so we did go to KFC because she wanna eat spicy chicken. When I was on the queue and trying to get our order I noticed an opened door near the kitchen. Oh that door… it’s their mini office.
In their mini office, I saw a computer and from the looks of it the person using it is checking an email. An official email I guess from the company because he is not using a free mail service from the internet. Looking at the desktop I notice something familiar… It rings a bell!!! Ahh, they using Ubuntu Linux. Good thing, the raid on pirated copies of proprietary software is still on :). Or probably it’s a company policy… Nevertheless, they made the right choice of using Ubuntu and FOSS applications for their operation. Not only minimizing the cost of ownership for their IT assets but maximizing efficiency. Good on you KFC… Congrats!!!
