Strange SKYPE

I updated my Skype (to 1.4) in my Ubuntu laptop the other day. Many users said that this new version is quite good compared to the older versions. However, when I installed it, there’s nothing new except for the interface. The new version looks like this:

Simple yet intuitive… But it is deceiving… why? because it keeps on closing out whenever I search for users and then click their profile. Also, unlike before, when you right click the search results you can no longer get the features and functions such as ” Add to Contacts” and many others which you normally can do in the older versions. What they did was for users to click (i) or the profile button and when you are in the profile window and if you click the arrowdown button you can see View Profile enabled in which if you click it again the app will terminate and you need to restart it again. Hmmm, too bad…

BTW, if you have similar experience can you please tell me how did you go around the trick (or is this simply a bug???).

Cheers…

  1. i’ve got skype 1.4 running on gutsy, I do agree that the GUI changes made adding contacts a bit cumbersome but I do appreciate the streamlines approach to the skype client. Sanayan lang siguro. Btw, the client is working fine on my end, I’ve yet to experience the bug you’ve experienced.
