WhoAmI
I am Val Añonuevo Quimno from the Philippines. I am an electronics & communications engineer by profession. Since I was in college I am very interested in coding and tweaking IT stuff. During the early years of my career, I work as a network administrator in a state university and as a teacher as well. A state university setup for IT positions normally include faculty designated with IT functions such as mine. I performed multiple functions to include system administration. With this experience, I became more interested with open source system (however, not neglecting proprietary ones) because most of the machines that I managed are built on various distros of Linux (Redhat, Fedora, Smoothwall, IPCOP, CEntOS, Ubuntu, Debian, etc.). All in all, it’s more than five years of doing system administration stuff from mail setup/maintenance, web servers, firewalls, proxy servers, etc. you name it I had it all, but still consider myself a novice in this field.
Another side of my working experience is focused on design and development (web and stand alone systems). I was involved in an e-learning project funded by AusAID through a consortium with USEP, DepEd and BEAM. With that, I was given a chance to pursue further studies on e-learning. Just recently I finished my masters degree in E-Learning from the University of Technology, Sydney - New South Wales, Australia. Now I am back here in my workplace to work on distance learning projects and other development endeavors for e-learning.
Some personal info about me, I am a mild mannered person and fun to be with. My interests include free and open source systems, electronics, system administration, ham radio, tennis, reading a lot (just recently… hehehe), chatting, and tweaking my rig
…
That’s about it, thank you for dropping by and have a good day!!!
