Long Time

Too busy…

Tied up with uni work. Hope to catch up with blogging soon.

Cheers everyone!

Useful CamStudio

My students (mostly teachers) are very much amazed with what I presented specially those who are teaching technology subjects. Why? Because CamStudio will make their teaching life easy. Again for the new batch, I gave the OpenEducation Disc which they immediately embrace. Some of them explored on Educational Tools and most on Office Productivity. Little did they know that CamStudio will help them in their daily teaching job. How? They just realized that they can make their respective lessons and record it in their own desktop and save it for their classroom presentation. This time they no longer talk and talk and talk in the classroom, their effort in the classroom now will be focused on the activities to enhance teaching and learning. These pre-recorded lessons that they make serve as their data bank of lessons (learning objects) to which they can use and reuse. Wheew!!! Thanks to CamStudio (an open source desktop audio/video capturing software).

OpenEducation Disc Once Again

I happen to share to my students, in Sto.Tomas, Davao del Norte in our subject Management of Educational Technology, the Open Education Disc which all of them liked. I was amazed with their acceptance and eagerness to try the software. Baby steps to FOSS advocacy.

Will share more soon.

Thanks.

It’s your choice: Free or Not Free

I had my class this morning on computer literacy and a little bit of programming. As I first talked about my experience and a short introduction about myself I wondered if these students really know what they are doing (well, at least, in the context of computers). When they had their first taste of computers majority of them shared that they thought that computers already have a bundled software. Their experience will tell us that they know nothing about software licensing and the need to have a legit copy of it. When they heard that these computer applications should be bought they immediately ask “how much?”. And I began to give them some estimates. The bad thing is… They have discovered that the cost of the computers now is nothing compared to the licensing cost. With that, I also shared to them that there are equivalent, mature and stable software which is FREE… “Oh Yes! Absolutely Free!”. So I started sharing FOSS to them and they immediately got interested. In fact, on our next meeting I will share to them the OpenEducation Disc which I shared to you in my last post.
